Out of my household, I feel I hold the record for the most time-consuming showers. So my water usage is most likely way higher, and quite frankly, what makes our water bill so high each month. The second water usage calculator I used gave significantly more accurate gallons per day reading than the first one. I believe this is because the first calculator was not as detailed in its questions and was broader. Although these websites can be for research and fun purposes only, they should go into deeper depth considering some people might genuinely be curious about their water usage. Websites like these can be helpful for all kinds of people, especially those who own apartments, so they know and can be sure about their water bill from the owners. According to neefusa.org, the average texas resident uses about 92 gallons of water per day! This makes me feel slightly better about my personal usage. If Texans decreased their shower time by one minute, we would save 14 billion gallons of water per year. (Blount, 2022) If my family members limited our water usage by taking shorter showers or turning off the faucet when we brush our teeth, I'm confident we can save tens of hundreds of gallons per month. Which has a bigger significance to our environment than we believe.
